Message from Mayor (January 21, 2022)
From Mayor to Citizens of Toyokawa
“The Semi-State of Emergency” was issued in Aichi prefecture today, on January 21. In Toyokawa city, 136 newly infected were confirmed yesterday and I have a sense of crisis quite seriously ever before. Above all, there have been quite rapid, continuous infectious increase among students of elementary and junior high schools since last weekend. 12 schools, or one third of 36 elementary and junior high schools in Toyokawa were forced to grade closure or school closure and infection among family members is spreading as a result.
It has been reported that variant Omicron has strong infectivity with shorter incubation period. I am asking citizens once again, to do counter infectious measures at home and take basic preventive measures “not getting infected, not infecting others” thoroughly to overcome the “6th wave” of infectious spread in one team with all the citizens. Your understanding and cooperation are asked earnestly.
Currently, 3rd vaccination is being prepared systematically. Please also take it into consideration for the sake of everyone.
