Fire/Medical Emergency (Dial 119)
Should a fire start, or you discover a fire, alert your family and/or neighbors in a loud voice to enlist their help. At the same time, dial 119 to contact the fire station.
Also for fires, traffic accidents, workplace accidents, injuries or when there is a sudden illness and there is no way to get to the hospital, contact the fire station by dialing 119. An ambulance will be dispatched.
How to Report

When making a report

1.calm down and dial 119 with no telephone exchange number
2.report whether it is a fire or medical emergency
3.clearly state the address, need, your name, telephone number and so on.

If there is someone nearby who speaks Japanese transfer the call to him or her. In order to prepare for such emergencies, you should practice a minimal level of Japanese.
Be aware that when reporting by cellular telephone, the call will be connected by way of the Toyohashi fire department.

Crimes and Accidents (Dial 110)

For thefts, crimes or traffic accidents, dial 110. This will connect you to the police so calm down, report the facts, address, need, your name and so on in a clear voice.
Also note, the police department is separate from the Toyokawa City Hall as it is under Aichi Prefecture authority.
