Child Allowance (Jido Teate) 「児童手当」

Eligibility

Person who meets all the following conditions

• Has an address in Japan
• Father or mother as a principal breadwinner who raises a child living in Japan, and not having graduated from junior high school (Until first March 31 after becoming 15 years old)

Sum of payment

Necessary things for application

• Bankbook of applicant
• Residence Card (Zairyu Card) of applicant and child
• My Number Card (Or Notification Card 〈Tsuuchi Card〉)of applicant and its spouse
• If the child lives in other municipalities, My Number Card (Or Notification Card 〈Tsuuchi Card〉) of the child

※Other documents may be required depending on the cases.

Others: When notification procedures are required

【The Current Status (Genkyo Todoke)(Submission is principally not necessary.)】

The Current Status (Genkyo Todoke) is the document to confirm the household's condition at the point of June 1 every year, whether the person meets condtions for receiving Child Allowance continuously for June payment quota and after (Supervision and protection of the child, sharing same livelihood etc.). All persons were asked to submit it before, but it is principally not necessary except some cases from June 2022.

【Eligibility Expiration (Shoumetsu Todoke)】

• When the recipient moves out of Toyokawa
• When the recipient no longer takes care of a child
• The recipient has become a civil servant (Komuin)

【Changing Sum of Allowance (Gaku Kaitei Todoke) 】

• When number of eligible children increases
• When number of eligible children decreases

【Changing Information (Henko Todoke)】

• When the recipient changes address (Within Toyokawa)
• Changes in recipient's name or a child’s name
• When changing bank account (Please bring the recipient’s bankbook.)

【Notification of Separate Living (Bekkyo Kango Moushitate Sho】

When the recipient and child live separately

※Payment starts from the following month if notification procedures are completed.

Payment Periods

1. June（February - May）
2. October（June - September）
3. February（October - January）

※Allowances are transferred into the designated bank account on 7th of above mentioned payment months. If 7th of the month is weekend or holiday, the payment is made one day prior to the 7th on the bank’s operation day.
