Message from Mayor (April 28, 2022)
From Mayor to Citizens of Toyokawa
Although the number of newly infected persons in Aichi prefecture is calming down at this point compared to that of last month, the number remains high. In Toyokawa city as well, the newly infected persons are found noticeably in younger generation, and infection tends to spread out to other generations through family infection.
Under these circumstances, persons belonging to medical institutions, senior citizen’s facilities, schools, and nursery schools etc. are devoting themselves to maintaining citizen’s health and social life. I am deeply grateful for their effort.
Golden Week holidays start from tomorrow, and we will be in the period of moving and going out for traveling and shopping. Aichi prefecture is asking to cooperate for preventive measures on heightened alert. Citizens in Toyokawa are also requested to refrain from behavior with higher risk of infection and to do basic preventive measures thoroughly by wearing mask, washing hands and ventilation etc.
On the other hand, 3rd vaccination for persons including younger generation and infant vaccination are conducted and Toyokawa city is also trying its best to implement the vaccination. However, vaccination rate remains lower than expected in younger generation. Taking vaccination enables to prevent “aftereffect” in case of getting infected, and with higher vaccination rate as entire generations, we can restrain onset of disease and getting seriously ill of the elderly. Currently, variant “BA.2” which is considered more contagious than conventional variant Omicron, is overtaking and becoming viral majority. Those who have vaccination tickets at hand are repeatedly asked to consider taking vaccination at earliest convenience regardless of the type of vaccine.
Finally, I understand that many citizens are concerned with daily life in the troubled global situation in addition to problems caused by COVID-19. Toyokawa city will promote various administrative measures to secure citizen’s life and regional economy. Your understanding and cooperation are sincerely asked.
