Foreign people who have lived in Japan for more than 90 days
need to register as foreign citizens.
Required Items
Passport(If you have one) and two signed photos(taken within 6 months, with no hat, no scenery, 4.5cm high ~ 3.5cm wide,
Photos are not required for those under 16 years old.)
Alien registration cards will be issued to registered people. (It takes about a month for those under 16 years old.)
[Registering a Change]
If your registered personal details change, for example: your place of residence or period of stay, report the change
within 14 days. This can be done in person or through a family member if you are living together.

[Renewal]
You must apply to renew your Alien Registration during the period written on your card. After your registration has been
confirmed your card will be issued.

[Lost Cards]
If you lose your card, report the loss to the police. Then, apply for a new card.

[Certificate]
The document verifying your alien registration is called ecertificate of alien registrationf. (It costs 200yen per document
to issue.) If family members who are not living with you, or third parties apply in your place, you must sign a proxy granting
them permission to do so.
