Earthquakes and Typhoons
Earthquakes
Japan is a country that has many earthquakes and there is the possibility of a major earthquake occurring. In the worst case though, if there is an earthquake, the shaking lasts for about one minute. When an earthquake occurs, check your person for safety, --> take care of fires, --> secure an exit, --> do not run out in panic, and --> walk to a place of shelter.
Also take precautions such as always keeping emergency food and a flashlight on hand, firmly attaching furniture to walls or pillars, and so on.
Typhoons
In Japan, the typhoon season extends from June to September. In a typhoon, damage such as flooding from heavy rain or buildings collapsing from strong winds is possible. Should a typhoon be approaching, take precautions such as paying attention to the weather reports, preparing a flashlight and transistor radio, reinforcing rain shutters and roofs and so on.
