Taxes consist of the taxes collected
by the national government, those collected by the prefecture
(including Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka) government (Toyokawa residents
are part of Aichi Prefecture) and those of the local city or
town (Toyokawa City). The national taxes include income taxes,
sales taxes, gasoline taxes and so on; prefecture (including
Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka) taxes include automobile taxes and such;
and city and town taxes include resident taxes, light automobile
taxes, fixed asset taxes and so on.
Taxes are set by laws of taxation and it is essential that they
be paid by the established payment due dates. |
Income Tax (National Tax) |
This is a tax to support society
based on earned and other income. The tax rate is based on your
total income after what is needed to support your family and
such is deducted. Taxes are paid by your company deducting them
from your salary.
For those working at a company, you will be issued an "Earned
Income Tax Withholding Slip" for the income taxes paid
for the year in January of the following year. Be sure to keep
this in a safe place as it is a very important public document
regarding income tax payment.
