Admission Qualifications |
The National Health Insurance System
is to ensure that all who are sick or injured receive medical
treatment with peace of mind and without excessive financial
burden. People who meet all of the following:
1.Toyokawa residents who have alien registration
2.expect to live in Japan for more than one year
3.do not expect to be enrolled in an insurance program at
their place of work
4.do not receive state assistance are requested to bring their
Alien Registration Card and passport when they apply at the
Insurance and Pension Office. An Insurance Recipient Identification
(Insurance Card) will be issued. |
Insurance Fee |
The National Health Insurance (National
Insurance) is managed by the insurance fees collected from everyone
along with national taxes. The insurance fee is calculated according
to the entire household income, fixed asset taxes, and the number
of members enrolled. This fee is then collected in six installments.
The insurance payment notices are sent to the head of the household.

Personal Payment of Medical Costs |
National Insurance pays for 70%
of the medical facility costs for an illness or injury with
the remaining 30% (personal payment) paid by the individual.
There may be additional charges for meals during hospitalization
and a fixed amount for medicine charges when visiting the
hospital. Be sure to present your insurance card to the medical
facility

Maternity Gift Money and Funeral Condolence Money |
Members of the National Insurance
who become pregnant will receive \300,000 in support. For pregnancies
4 months and over, this support applies in cases of miscarriages
and still births as well. When a member of the National Insurance
dies, the person handling funeral services may receive \70,000
in support. Please make the proper application.

High Cost Medical Treatment Payment Refund |
Should a member of the National Insurance
pay a personal payment over \63,600 to a single medical facility
(hospitalization, regular out patient and dental treatment are
excepted) in a single month, the excess payment is refunded
as "High Cost Medical Treatment Payment." Please make
the proper application.

When Moving Out |
The insurance card issued by Toyokawa
City is invalid when the bearer moves to another city or town
or returns to their home country. At the time of moving or such
return the insurance card. At that time you must pay any remaining
insurance fees. When you move out, you should apply again for
National Health Insurance for the area you will live in. |
