Nursing-care Insurance(Kaigo Hoken) is
a structure to provide the elderly with nursing-care services. A premium must
be paid to be eligible for this service. If you are 65 or over, the premium
is deducted from your pension or it can be paid separately. If you are 40 to
64, you pay the premium and health insurance together. The premium is
calculated in the same way as *health insurance.
You need to be screen-tested to
confirm the level of care you require due to physical disabilities, dementia,
etc. and you need to obtain certification of long-term care need to use
nursing-care programs. The types and frequency of services you can use vary
according to your level of need.
Applications can be made in person or
through family members. You can also ask support organizations and care
service facilities to represent you. After certification, you can use the
services under the care plan that is arranged by local comprehensive support
centers or home support organizations. There are various services such as
home visits, home bath services, short-stay services, day care, and nursing
homes.
